As a psychodynamic/Bowenian based therapist, I believe our current behaviors and reactions stem from our influences earlier in life; how we grew up, parental role models, trauma and abuse. These early life influences shape who we are and continue to play a role in how we deal with others. I believe that it is through the exploration of multiple generations that clients are able to better understand who they are and how their behaviors came to be.
